Our Story

The Dandy Tea CO. was founded in 2013 by myself, Mandy de Rose. Renmark born and now based in the Fleurieu Peninsula I have spent my life surrounded by local produce and growers.

Some complications after multiple surgeries in 2011 forced me to look at what we put into our bodies, as my recovery was taking its toll on my mental and physical health. Tea seemed like such an easy and effective way to aid the recovery but it was quickly evident that many store bought teas are full of preservatives, dyes, sulphurs and additives.

This is where my family’s background of fruit-growing came full circle and I began drying local fruits and herbs to experiment with some of my own blends.

The Dandy Tea Co. now specialises in seasonal fruit & herbal tisanes. Showcasing creativity, ethical practice and a sense of community achieved by working closely with local growers, they create the freshest, seasonal fruit & herbal blends on the market. Choosing to buy fresh as often as possible and direct from the farmer, ingredients are hand blended in small batches to ensure the finest quality.

10 years since the first trial blends in my household kitchen, The Dandy Tea Co is now not just me, but the many family members, my husband and son, the friends and our beautiful staff that make up this company.

We stock to many South Australian businesses and everything is blended at de Rose Kitchen - The Dandy Tea Co's sister business in Willunga - where you can sit and enjoy a cuppa.

The Dandy Tea Co., also have an extensive range of traditional teas that are all certified organic and sourced from the best tea growing regions of the world. This ensures that they choose the highest quality tea in respect to the seasonal nature and drying method of the leaves.

The Dandy Tea Co. x de Rose Kitchen

In early 2019 we made the decision to purchase a little cafe in the heart of Willunga. Our (My now husband Dan and I’s) vision for the space was simple - honest food, coffee, tea and service with an aim to always make you feel welcome and part of our family. The space was also a perfect opportunity to move The Dandy Tea Co from a home based business to a commercial kitchen.

While running the two businesses separately on paper, it has become such a beautiful thing to watch them both coexist side by side.

We have now grown to a staff of 12 who share our ethos of creating food, coffee and tea that is connected to the community.

Connected to the grower, the region, the roaster, the people. We want to make sure everyone feels part of our de Rose family when they walk through those doors, - as though you are coming over for a cuppa and some brunch.
